Material and Process.
This chair is the end development of a junior level studio class that was sponsored by Johnston Casuals Furniture. This project not only strengthened my design knowledge but opened opportunities to further develop my professionally and understanding of the furniture market. I wanted to develop a chair with organic forms that could be contracted using consistent curvature  to ease manufacturing. I developed initial conceptual ideas in 2D, then fine tuned my design in 3D. By creating a full scale study of the chair, I was able to work out the proportions. I ended by presenting this 1/4 scale model of my design with a detailed layout of manufacturing steps. this version is shown with white powder-coated metal with dark leather upholstered cushions.
